Zhengzhou is the boundary of the second and third plates of Chinese geography, as well as the boundary between the loess plateau and the huanghuai plain. Zhengzhou city government hoped to design a loess museum along the Yellow River to teach science popularization education about the loess. We studied a group of old cave dwellings in the local area, and made a "sandwich" structure on the section. Two new buildings were used to "sandwich" the old cave dwellings of the loess in the middle. The one side near the Yellow River was covered with earth-covered buildings, on the back of the museum it was a long-span steel structure. Both of them integrate the old and the new to form the museum together. The old cave dwellings in loess are not only the exhibition space, but also the content of the exhibition itself. The design abandons the routine of setting up the axisymmetric square in front of the entrance of the museum, and retains the grove in front of the entrance, allowing visitors to enter the loess museum naturally through the grove by the Yellow River.
